While the earth abideth, with her seed-time and harvest, some men will be tillers of the soil. The day may come when there will be no more squires, but there will be sure to be farmers. Whether there be lords, they shall cease; or lawyers, they shall vanish away; but farmers shall remain. Both good and evil husbandmen, Cains and Noahs, will plough furrows and reap harvests until the end come. [CH Spurgeon]

Hence, a Poet Farmer.

The ubiquitous use of the mobile phone by young adults serves as a vehicle for self-expression and collective identity, often through the use of text messaging and social media. But for a farmer who labour under the heat of the scorching sun, finds its delight in creating poetry while resting beneath the cool shade of a tree.

Hence, Mobibard.

Writing poetry is one thing that usually takes over my spare time. I began writing when I was in high school, usually in the form of a song. Honestly, I’m not an expert in this field, but I see it as relaxing when I'm crafting some lines. This too is the secret of my youth, no pun intended. I love expressing my heart in the beauty of nature. From grasses, plants, to beautiful flowers. From worms, insects, to animals, and birds. Those attractive and appealing colorful vegetables and delicious fruits.

Composing a lovely song and a wonderful poem can be derived from a beautiful sunrise and from an amazing sunset too. So, don't be upset when you come across my poems where you'll see even a simple dirty charcoal be the theme of my composition. And oh, by the way, it isn't surprising when you notice that most of my poems are written in Filipino language and other Philippine dialects. It’s a good consequence of being a Filipino.  And I'm proud of it!

Thank you for visiting my site. I repeat, I'm not an expert here. You may want to express your own good ideas and corrections? Feel free to poke me. Surely, I’ll be glad to hear them and will be grateful for that guidance. It is in such a way that I see myself needing more until I’m fully sharpened. So, I'll be waiting for your feedback, you may leave a message below and who knows this will be the beginning of a fruitful friendship with you. Thank you and God bless.

LUYA (Ginger)

Kung may halaman mang ipagmamalaki,
Masasabing mahal kapagka binili,
Halaga'y talaga naman na matindi,
Mapapakamot ka kahit di makati.

Ang tinutukoy ko'y luya na halaman,
Mantakin ang presyo tila pang mayaman,
Marapat magtanim sa ating bakuran,
Upang makatipid kahit konti manlang.

Luya'y ipantapal o yung ginger compress,
Ay kaginhawaan siyang makakamit.

Boses ay gaganda sa halamang luya,
Kahit kapiraso at gawin na tsa-a,
Higupin, namnamin sabay na kumanta,
Kung wala sa tono mag-ensayo muna!

Ang hamon sa lahat higop ng salabat,
Lalo kung madalas yaong pamamalat,
At dahilsa mahal ang halamang ugat,
Sulitin sa kanta, bumirit, bumanat!

RÉSUMÉ

Jotting down the summary
Of you and mine life’s history
Attaching papers that are apropos
And doing it with no delay.

And we choose words accurately
Write them meticulously
At last, we pay a cheerful smile
When people read our résumé.

We pride ourselves with accolade
Those great remarks we wouldn’t hid
We couldn’t wait to spread and show
Eager to speak, people must heed.

For this is what our heart believes
People must see the good we did
Failures that make our hearts to frown
We build façade so we can hide.

The lonely word we all agree
Is the bare truth of honesty
And to be real to let and show
The only way to being free.

Now here’s the real mystery
Be-loved by Him I’m not worthy
Yet braced by an amazing love
Spread His arms and rescued me.

BANGKETE

At napipilitan ilang ‘di pinalad,
Iprenda ang manang lupa kay Mang Lopab,
Sapagkat kapos na ang perang pambayad,
Pangmamatrikula: bunsong nasa syudad.

Ang mayamang Lopab nagdaos ng piging,
Mga imbitado dagsaang dumating,
Mayama’t mahirap naging panauhin,
Lahat nangabusog nang magsipagkain.

Sa kalagitnaan nitong pagsasaya,
Pinatigil muna pagtugtog ng banda,
Dahil may anunsyong napakahalaga,
Mga naroroon agad tumalima.

Sa may entablado ay kumaway-kaway,
Inisa-isa n’ya kaniyang tagumpay,
Sukli ay palakpak, hiyaw, at wagayway,
Tuloy kasiyahan, todong walang humpay.

At maya-maya pa pintúa’y kinatok,
Ang silid-higaan niya ay pinasok,
‘Yon pala ay takdang si Lopab itampok,
Nitong Kamatayan kung saan na pook.

Ang porma at asta ang sigla at kisig,
Animo’y halamang hindî na nadilig,
“Hangal!

Daming nakiramay, lahat nakikain.

MERCY

Oh, envy has been laying within my inward parts,
Choking me lil' by lil' tearing my sp'rit apart,
Until God send a message a blessing to impart,
In haste I ran away but then I can't depart.

I was cast to the bottom upon that angry sea,
And in the deepest darkness a-giant fish welcomed me,
A grave-wide mouth opened slowly swallowed me,
A flabbergasting moment I was in Nineveh!

Alas! I learned a lesson a big realization,
When men regard vain idols, they are in alienation,
Only appeasing mercy marvelous imputation,
Can save a wretch vile like me and receive great salvation!

BEAUTY IN UGLY THINGS

All I see was a creepy caterpillar, crawling on a tiny leaf,
'Lil by 'lil consuming plants, and so classified as pest,
Never did I see in it, that there's beauty it possessed,
This ugly tiny crawler will become, a fascinating butterfly my guest.

So, with these irritating red ants, keeps on biting working hands,
Overbusy in the garden, cultivating lovely plants,
Then I was about to burst, yeah, my anger to decant,
Oh, what a lesson to ponder, busy creatures in my front!

If flying insects makes you squirm, a buzzing bee it could affirm,
Its sting can really inspire to scream, even the bravest man you named,
But honeybees have crucial part, of the earth's ecosystem,
And its honey an excellent, nutritious dietary supplement.

One day my little girl inquired, "why did good Lord created flies?"
I was struck I can't deny, made me off guard I was surprised!
Stooping down watching her eyes, as I gave her gentle advice,
"Those flying dirty houseflies, reminds to always clean the house."

The daily struggle that we face, 'tis even such produces faith,
Those lonely roads we used to trudged, we mastered through amazing grace,
In everything you say and do, be oft to say 'lil prayer too,
The secret of those who went through, and even ours for a breakthrough.

MUSTASA (Mustard Green)

Pinitas nga at nginuya luntiang dahong mustasa.

Pandama’y “malá-mustasa” mapapait, mapupusok,

Upang ginhawa’y makamtan kapaita’y titiisin.
